Epic games buys mediatonic studio creator of fall guys
The Epic games company, current owners of fortnite and rocket league, have just acquired Fall Guys. This video game had a peak of more than 100,000 simultaneous players during the first weeks of its release.
For those who do not know Fall Guys was developed by an independent studio (indie) called Mediatonic, which was founded in 2005 by Bailey and Paul Croft, who were students at Brunel University in London, and now have around 130 video game developments.
Thanks to independent studies, smaller developers may see an opportunity to take advantage of these companies as incubators to finance their projects.
In general, there are few independent or indie studios, which achieve success due to budget limitations for video game development and are sometimes affected in quality and features since, being free, they can be done uses of micro transactions to obtain an economic benefit, reducing the level of experience having to place locks of screens, maps, characters, etc.
Many of us remember Epic Games recently for offering one of its star video games, GTA V, for free for a while, and not only for being a great company, but it also has the unreal engine, one of the most used engines in the development of renowned video games such as Fortnite.
For indies or independent programmers, the unreal engine graphics engine already has the necessary tools to carry out excellent video game development, only developers focus on developing a great story.
By being able to work with Epic Games, Mediatonic will be able to accelerate the plans they have with the video game, in order to reach more players. Fall Guys is an excellent, addictive, entertaining video game that will now have the backing of a great company such as Epic Games, so let's hope new incredible things for the future of Fall Guys.
